ADULT CONTEMPORARY x CURRENT


CURRENT is pleased to present ‘APPLIED ARTS’, a combined exhibition and retail space taking over the Naval Store’s former substation for Fremantle Design Week 2024.



Featuring Adult Contemporary, KEE RAA MIK, New Domestic Landscape, Prestige Bricks, Reece York, and Clare Wohlnick, the hybrid display takes inspiration from the idea of the ‘applied arts’ (art that applies design and decoration to everyday and practical objects for aesthetic purposes). In theory, the term is used in distinction to the ‘fine arts’ (art that produces objects with no practical use, whose only purpose is to be beautiful or stimulate the intellect). In practice, however, the two often overlap.

APPLIED ARTS will open concurrently with ’The Nature of Transition’, an exhibition curated by the design studio Lightly in the neighbouring Naval Store for Fremantle Design Week.


Please join us for an opening night celebration on Saturday, 19 October, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
